[d-star] All-Digital Public Service Event - Red/White/Boom 1/2 Marathon July 4 Minneapolis

The key will be to get some people wandering the course with HTs, or
at least checking the area around the mile markers to see which
repeaters work. I would expect downtown to see the area fairly well.
Depending exactly where the Anoka repeater is, it may be shadowed by
the New Brighton hill.

Keep in mind also that my IC-91AD HT has a rated battery life of 4
hours. That is one reason I don't use it much. I haven't even
programmed it for the local repeaters. It will be a lot easier getting
volunteers with analog FM radios.

OTOH, it can't hurt to ask, especially if you concentrate on the Anoka
club. But first step would probably be to identify a repeater. If one
of the D-STAR repeaters covers the course like a glove, then it might
work for the event. If it has dead spots, you would be farther ahead
going analog.
