Hello Everyone,

I'm the Wisconsin ARES/RACES ASEC for Digital
Communications, I'm also a sysop of one of two WinLink 2000
PMBO's here in SE Wisconsin. Mine (KB9MMC) is located in
Milwaukee, and the other (KB9MMA) is located in Racine.

Wisconsin ARES/RACES is in the process of experimenting with
various modes of high-speed data radios. D-Star is one of
those modes. Recently Wisconsin ARES/RACES has acquired 4
D-Star ID-1 units, two of these units are for new WinLink
2000 PMBO's outside of SE Wisconsin, and I have two units
here in Milwaukee. One of these units will be added to the
Milwaukee PMBO, and the other will be used mobile to see how
these units interact with each other, and with the Milwaukee
D-Star data repeater with WinLink 2000. I would also like to
play around using D-Star and a dispatching CAD program for
special events. An online version of this CAD software can
be seen at http://kb9mmc.ath.cx/tickets. Login using guest
for user, and password. I've started loading some things in
for the Madison - Chicago 200.

I hope to have the first ID-1 unit in the PMBO rack and have
the hard-line run within the next couple of weeks. Then it's
just a matter of waiting for better weather to do some tower
work. And then lots of testing (playing HI HI) before this
years Madison - Chicago 200 where I hope we can give it a
good work out.
