The first D-STAR repeaters in the City of Chicago were installed last August by the NSRC (North Shore Radio Club).

The system's internet gateway came on-line on Friday, January 11th. You can access the repeaters at:

NSRC Digital Voice Repeaters
NS9RC B 442.09375 Mhz (+5)
NS9RC A 1292.2000 MHz (-20)

NSRC Digital Data Access Point
NS9RC 1242.200 MHz

The NSRC repeaters are located in the city of Chicago 6 miles north of downtown Chicago & 1/2 mile west of the Lake Michigan lakefront on a building 57 floors above ground level.

We are in the process of enhancing the D-STAR antenna system which should occur soon. The new antennas should result in D-STAR coverage similar to the existing NSRC FM repeater on 442.725 MHz at the same site providing excellent coverage to the city of Chicago and north, northwest, west & southwest suburbs, including coverage for boaters well into Lake Michigan.

The repeaters are open, but access to the gateway requires club membership or gateway authorization by another club or organization. More information about the North Shore Radio Club can be found at: http://www.ns9rc.org

The NSRC repeaters join the FRRL(Fox River Radio League) D-STAR repeaters which came on the air during the fall of 2006. They are:

FRRL Digital Voice Repeaters
W9CEQ B 442.10625 Mhz (+5)
W9CEQ C 145.2700 MHz (-600)

The FRRL repeaters are located in the far western suburb of Elburn, 45 miles west of downtown Chicago. They use high-gain antennas with a directional pattern towards the east on a 400 ft. tower and cover the west, northwest & southwest suburbs of the Chicago area. More information about the FRRL is at: www.frrl.org

We look forward to hearing you on the air whether you're in the Chicago area or using the D-STAR network.
