Subject: [WisconsinD-STAR] DVAP Programs

All,

I am sure everyone is aware of two or possible three D-STAR
programs for the DVAP.

The first is the most common one which is Robin's AA4RC DVAPTool that is available for the Raspberry Pi, Windows, Linux,
and Mac OS X.

Then, there is the complex but powerful G4KLX
ircddbgateway/DStarRepeater (includes DVAP) software package.

Some
are even aware of the simple GUI interface but very functional and
nearly complete WinDV software by Fred Van Kempen, PA4YBR.
He has
recently created a different interface to his software called ConDV.
It
has most of all of the functionality of WinDV but operation is done
through a keyboard "console" (non GUI) mode.
It can also run as a daemon (service) as well. Both of these features would be appealing towards
Raspberry Pi/DVAP/Hotspot owners.
This can be run on a computer and
there are Linux (CentOS) and Windows versions available.
More information on this software can be found at:
http://www.dutch-star.eu/software.

This software requires a free account to download it.

I
have done testing on the software and it is very easy to operate and
runs extremely well on a Raspberry Pi and DVAP.
A good majority of the
basic functionality of G4KLX's software can be utilized with this
software. It will also work with GMSK hotspots as well.
However, the
instructions are not very intuitive with regard to installation. Once
completed, there are PDFs included that go over operation and
configuration in detail that is HIGHLY suggested to read.
Particularly,
because I found the program's configuration had to be manually created
in order for ConDV to use my DVAP.

If you would like more
functionality of DVAPTool and more of a "middle-ground" amongst all DVAP
software packages and can put up with the roughness on installation and
 configuration, ConDV is highly recommended.
