Subject: [al-dstar] Huntsville Hamfest and D-STAR


Five exciting D-STAR events and a fabulous D-STAR booth complete with 
fully-operational radios, high-speed data demo, repeater, and a 
competent team of enthusiastic workers dominated the Huntsville 
Hamfest weekend! Many hams from across the world learned about D-STAR 
and several were enticed to purchase radios. Audience participation 
was high, and each presentation was met with eager attendees and 
meeting rooms filled to capacity.

At the D-STAR user's group meeting and reception, an overflow crowd 
forced the opening of additional space and chairs to accommodate the 
nearly 125 attendees. The delicious refreshments quickly disappeared. 
Hams who attended this Saturday night event learned about different D-
STAR installations, tactics and several exciting technical advances 
with the next generation D-STAR controllers, software and devices. 
Icom America, Japan and several deserving amateurs were presented 
appreciation awards by the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief group.

Icom and Gigaparts donated a VERY nice door prize package, including 
an IC-2820, UT-123, programming software, cable and antenna. I'll bet 
Ferrell, KE4QDC will have a big smile on his face for a long time. 
Congratulations Ferrell!

Thank you for attending and supporting the D-STAR events at the 2007 
Huntsville Hamfest!
