Matthew -

Thanks for getting back to me.

I seemed to have missed everyone when I wandered through on Friday early evening and Saturday mid-to-late afternoon.

Are any of the digital voice repeaters on a gateway yet?

Mark-

Great to hear you are in town! Sorry if I missed you already...

K0BEN, n0ynt and w0usd (the last two are me, usually) are typically on the
air during afternoon drive times. Feel free to call me on the phone if
you're still in town and we can work up a sked.

442.900 is generally the machine to call cqcqcq on; feel free to program in
Ben (k0ben) or mine (n0ynt / w0usd) calls into your radio and give us a
"kerchunk".

OK. I have my ID-1 in the car so I'll try the 1285.1 D-STAR digital voice
repeater when I pass through in addition to the 2m & 440 D-STAR digital
voice repeaters.

I couldn't key up FM repeater on 1285 yesterday so I don't know if it's up
or not.

I'll probably stop for a late lunch somewhere in the west metro area so will
be on the air with D-STAR Digital Voice for a little while with the 91AD HT
while I'm in the area.

Look forward to perhaps talking with someone on the air between 2 & 4 pm.

DV might be working at 3M 1285.100 - we have not tested it. I'll have my
ID-1 on the air in a bit here

Sorry I can't make your group's get together. It sounds like fun.

However I will be passing through Minneapolis this afternoon, Saturday
between 2 & 4 pm.

Hope to catch someone on the 2m or 440 D-STAR Digital Voice repeaters in the
West Metro area while I pass through. I keyed them up yesterday afternoon
while heading out to Fargo, but didn't catch anyone on the air. Are they on
the gateway yet?

Are any of the 1.2 GHz D-STAR Digital Voice or FM repeaters on the air yet?
If so, what frequencies?

I will need to leave at 12:30 both days but if we can get an early start on
the systems integration life will be good. We have the rooftop site, power,
antenna, ground etc all ready for D-Star at Minneapolis South. As soon as
the machine is ready I want to install it.

Hopefully we will be seeing repeater #3 soon and can use that for testing-
some day a machine at the Fire Station would be good...

We need a 1.2 antenna at the Fire Station....

26.

Hello World!

The next packet & radio workshop will be Sunday August 12 with another
workshop scheduled for Sunday August 26. I'll be there at
9AM, but you can come when you are ready. As usual we'll go till around
5 or 6PM. Be aware the road destruction season is in full swing. The
694/35E intersection is having major construction and Hwy 36 through
North St Paul is closed from tomorrow through November. I-94 through St
Paul to Century Ave may be your fastest route.

Tomorrow is short notice and was scheduled for testing software and
hardware related to the D-STAR data repeater we will be installing in
Minneapolis before the Twin Cities Marathon. I will not have the fancy
spec-an tomorrow. The August 26 date will be a regular packet workshop.
If you have a project and are available tomorrow, you are welcome,
D-STAR related or not.

The purpose of the workshops is to help people who are interested in
packet radio and other digital modes, or just plain need a little help
with a computer or radio related project. The great thing about the
workshop is that we all help each other.

I provide some of the more exotic test equipment that might be needed,
you bring your project, the parts you'll need, and small hand tools. I
usually bring an oscilloscope, frequency counter, signal generator, RF
power meter, dummy loads, and a spectrum analyzer. The spec-an is great
for checking receivers and transmitters. If you need to work on anything
above 1GHz, please let me know in advance.

The location is 1177 Century Ave North (55119) at the Maplewood East
County Line Fire Station #1 about 1.5 miles north of I-94. Century Ave
is the same as Highway 120 and it is on the east side of the 3M Center
complex. If you found the Tailgate Swapfest site, you just continue east
to Century Ave and then go north to the fire station.

If you want a map, Google search for:
    1177 Century Ave N, 55119
If you look for the 80 foot tower on the roof, it will be hard to miss.

Park in the lot on the north side of the building. We'll be using the
training room in the north-east corner of the building. We'll probably
use the side entry door, the one without a door knob. Pound on the
door and we'll let you in.<g> The alternate entry will be the east side
doors nearest the flag pole but I'm not going to guarantee anyone will
hear you there....

I'll have the coffee pot running and I'll probably bring some cookies or
rolls. Feel free to bring more treats. There are pop machines in the
station and a Holiday gas station store a block away. Bring your own
lunch or go out to eat. Usually we order in a pizza. We have Internet
available and cable TV to help keep kids entertained.

I hope to see you there! The next workshop will be August 26 and I will
have dates scheduled in September as well. We are running out of time to
finish our tasks before the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon so we will
need all the dates that we can get.

73, Doug Reed, N0NAS.
